Ashkelon Excavations in the eastern Mediterranean is the site of Phoenician shipwrecks named Tanit and Elissa. Amphorae from there were lifted by archaeologists and tested--mud inside them was tested and the 8th century B.C. ships had carried wine.
Top third exterior is the sediment glaze -- as it came to me, a bit crunchy with who knows what remains had settled there. Interior celadon and exterior greenish matte are glazes assembled from refined materials. Light aqua seaglass in thumbwell.
